I was meant to go to this exhibition next weekend but I ended up going on the opening day. It is not as cluttered as it looks in the flyer photographs but it is as broad and diverse as it shows. The collection includes the works of his peers, namely artists of the 'Superflat' moniker but its not just limited to his peers, there are also quite a few pop art pieces, as well a couple of rooms of Japanese folk art and pieces that would have been used as everyday items but now in this collection are shown for their intrinsic beauty, japanese use the term wabi-sabi. I love wabi-sabi so I enjoyed this section of the exhibition. There is a pretty cool section for people to get interactive and engage with the art by drawing one of the pieces, we had a bit of fun drawing and colouring out interpretations of the peeing man! It's 1,500 yen for adults, cheaper for students, free for elementary school and under. Yokohama Museum of Art is a great museum that doesn't get so busy and is well worth a visit. http://yokohama.art.museum/eng/ Minato Mirai station, 27 mins express train from Shibuya.
