I'm delighted that tomorrow will be the opening day at Gallery Hakusen for Dan Szpara's first solo exhibition. I have been a fan of 's Dans work since I first stumbled on a blog called Tokyo Scum Brigade, a blog that he and his friend put together (http://tokyoscum.blogspot.jp/). Since Tokyo Scum Brigade Dan has moved on and is doing stuff like winning awards (for the photo below) as well as being a regular photographer for The Japan Times, and VICE Media Japan. Come and ch...eck out the photos and meet Dan between 4-6pm. Oh and Takeo Udagawa from Manga Zombie will be dropping a fine selection of tunes as well. Wine, beer, and snacks will also be consumed. See you there!

Here is the festival inspired poster giving the names of nearly all the people attending
Comic Art Tokyo as either guests, workshop organisors, publishers, or artist alley. Details of the festival >>>HERE<<< or go to www.comicarttokyo.com We are super stoked that Dan's first show will be at the gallery this weekend.
I have been a fan of Dan's (and Dave's) work when I came across there now defunct blog www.tokyoscumbrigade.blogspot.com. Dave worked for Magnum Photography but is now a freelance photographer who's clients include The Japan Times and Vice Media Japan. Void Has an interview with Dan >>>HERE<<<. And The Phoblographer has a pretty good interview with Dan >>>HERE<<<. We will have two books for the show, one showing works on display, the other being a more adult themed S&M zine. Dan and Dave have a newer blog you can check out here - www.ceiling-gallery.com/ From this Sunday! |
