You should go and support this Kickstarter. It's been put together by Ronald Wimberly.
I've read read Ronald's comics and also some his pieces of comic criticism. He's insightful, observant, witty, and gets to the heart of the matter and expresses opinions on subjects that are not addressed often enough. I like that. The Kickstarter will fund the release of an annual full-colour broadsheet (large) newspaper that will contain comics, criticism, interviews, artwork, and writing on identity and popular culture. I am super stoked to see this happening ! Get your money behind the project >>>>>HERE<<<<<

While stock lasts...
Found some old stock of Bartkira posters. These are too tatty to sell so we'll bundle them FREE with any book orders of Dokudami or Tsuge (while stocks last) I have about 20 of these if u missed the 1st round! Cheapest book is 16usd shipped Its a rainy day, so it's a good day to write about the current exhibition at Rainy Day Books in Shibuya. The bookstore cafe is in the basement of book publisher company 'SWITCH' , their offices taking up the rest of the building. The location is on Google Maps and about a 15 minutes walk from Omotesando. Switch Publishing have just published a book by Taiyo Matsumoto so the exhibition ties in with the new publication. The coffee, and curry, are pretty tasty. I visited on a Sunday afternoon and while the rest of Tokyo was heaving the cafe was an oasis of calm (cheesy but true). The event runs for about another week or so.... details are up on the website ,.
We love the limited tees that Youth In Decline produce every year so much so that we've decided to do one of our own
with all round nice person Dirty Robot. We are taking pre-Orders >>>IN THE STORE<<< , check out the details there. Price includes tracked shipping worldwide anywhere. Guaranteed delivery before Christmas for Pre-Orders.
It's all a bit last minute but Ryan Holmberg agreed to do a translation of Tadao Tsuge's 'Sabu The Bruiser', Tadao okay'd the print so Comic Art Tokyo is doing a Riso print on the day. This story appeared in Yakyo magazine in April 1974 and is a wonderful representation of Tsuge's ability and why he is held in high standing for his gekiga story telling.
If you are in Tokyo on the 25th come and see the talk (in Japanese) with Tadao Tsuge and Mitsuhiro Asakawa and get a copy of the comic signed by Tsuge after the talk! Super stoked to be doing this book. Details in store for worldwide shipping and if you are in Tokyo on the 25th go here >>>> PEATIX <<< |
