On Saturday I popped along to the 'New Zine' Exhibition hosted by Tetsunori Tawaraya @ Fever live house in Shin Daita. The wall drawing took Tetsunori 4 days to complete will be up for in the venue about 3 weeks. It's in the restaurant area (no charge) so you can go and check it out and have a tasty buritto while you are there. Here is Tetsunori's description of his latest zine, "from Tetsunori Tawaraya's description: "Crystal Bone Xchange is where people trade their body parts to money. Shady and sketchy neighborhood. World with pollution air, survival, and contaminated land is full of mutants. Illegal pulmonary drug LSREE is the only solution or we seek for unkown hero." Tetsunori cites H.P Lovecraft as one of his major influences. He's been making zines and doing live drawing installations for a long time, check out his biography >>>HERE<<<. For the masters of this book Tetsunori used a method similar to another artist he admires, the Virgil Finlay. Tetsunori used a scratchboard method to score the images onto black plastic, these images were then scanned for the book. The book was printed in Italy by Hollow Press and they did a fantastic job! This a lovely print, silver ink on grippy black paper, further details of the choices are on the Hollow Press website. Tetsunori says Virgil Finlay's artwork (example above) is a great inspiration to his own creative process.
