Sample Text from Men in Heels -
"Kiss are an American hard rock band. They formed in New York City in 1973. The original members were Paul Stanley, Gene Simmons, Ace Frehley, and Peter Criss.
Before KISS Paul Stanley and Gene Simmons were in a band called Wicked Lester. Wicked Lester was not a successful band so Paul Stanley and Gene Simmons decided to start a new band that would play simple rock ‘n roll songs. Paul Stanley came up with the new band name (KISS) and Ace Frehley designed the KISS logo. They also decided the new band should have a strong recognisable image.
In 1973 band member Gene Simmons asked Maria Contessa, a costume designer in New York, to design the costumes for KISS. KISS did not have any money so they promised to pay Maria for the costumes when they became rich. KISS also told Maria not to use any real animal skins to make the costumes.
KISS dress as comic book-style characters and each of the members has a character name: Starchild, The Demon, Spaceman, and Catman. The characters were meant to represent the different personalities of the band members.
Kiss wear black and white face make up, flamboyant costumes, and high heeled boots. In the 1970s their stage performances were elaborate with fire breathing, smoking guitars, shooting rockets, and flying musical instruments.
The boots KISS wear are made by Pasquale DiFabrizio. The heels on the boots are 8 eight inches (twenty centimetres) tall and they weigh twenty pounds (nine kilos) a pair. They take a long time to make. Pasquale De Fabrizio makes shoes for many famous people including Michael Jackson, and Elton John.
KISS listen to their fans opinions about the outfits and the makeup that KISS wear on stage. KISS have used ideas given to them by their fans to make changes to their stage outfits and makeup. KISS continue to work together, record music, and tour around world.
Notable song - “Rock and Roll All Nite” from the album Alive!"
